Intro
In the modern digital economy, we believe a company’s success cannot be measured by financial performance alone. True leadership requires a genuine, measurable commitment to the world we share and the communities we serve. For small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), sustainability is a critical component of operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and long-term viability.
At Acumatica, this isn’t just a trend we follow; it is core to who we are as a company and a corporate citizen. We are dedicated to empowering our Community not just with technology, but with a business approach that fosters sustainable growth. This commitment is evident in two major areas: our transparent corporate strategy, detailed in our 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, and the tangible actions we take as a Community.
As we approach Acumatica Summit 2026 in January, we are proud to demonstrate how our high-level ESG strategies translate into real-world action through a deep partnership with the Seattle Convention Center (SCC). By aligning our internal goals with a venue that shares our vision for environmental stewardship, we are setting a new standard for what a responsible corporate event looks like.
A Data-Driven Approach to ESG
Our approach to sustainability mirrors our approach to technology: it is practical, data-driven, and focused on continuous improvement. The 2024 ESG Report outlines a comprehensive strategy that integrates sustainability into our products, events, and business conduct. Since 2021, we have been a proud member of the United Nations Global Compact, aligning our operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
However, commitment requires more than just signing pledges. It requires quantifiable action.
Environmental Stewardship: Beyond Carbon Neutrality
We believe that protecting our planet requires deliberate steps to reduce our operational footprint. We are proud to announce that for the fourth consecutive year, Acumatica has been recognized as Climate Neutral, achieving zero net carbon emissions. This milestone is not an accident; it is the result of a rigorous, multi-faceted strategy.
That includes ensuring that 100% of our global office electricity is covered by Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This directly supports clean energy generation and reduces our reliance on fossil fuels.
Transparency is vital to our process. We are open about the challenges we face as a growing company. In our latest report, we note that our Scope 3 emissions—which include indirect impacts from our value chain—rose from 2,380 to 5,934 MT CO₂e. Rather than shying away from this data, we met it head-on. We invested in verified carbon credits that adhere to the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles (CCP) to account for 100% of our carbon impact. This willingness to track, report, and offset our emissions demonstrates the accountability we promise to our partners and customers.
Social Responsibility: Investing in a Diverse Future
Technology is built by people, and fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment is essential for innovation. When our workforce reflects the diverse communities we serve, we build better products and solve problems more effectively.
Our 2024 data shows meaningful progress in gender diversity across the organization:
- Workforce Representation: 34.2% of our total employees are female.
- Leadership: Women hold 31.3% of management positions.
- Governance: In 2024, 28.6% of our Board of Directors were female.
Furthermore, our internal community groups are thriving. The Women in Technology (WiT) community experienced an incredible 178% year-over-year growth. This surge highlights our focus on creating supportive networks that empower women to lead and succeed in the tech industry. These efforts have earned us external validation, including the TrustRadius Tech Cares award for the third consecutive year and Great Place to Work® certifications in the U.S. and Sri Lanka.
Governance and Ethics: The Bedrock of Trust
Strong governance ensures that our operations are managed with integrity. It is the foundation upon which we build trust with our customers. In 2024, 90% of our employees completed annual ethics training, ensuring that our team is equipped to make principled decisions. By embedding ethical practices into our corporate culture, we ensure that Acumatica remains a reliable, transparent partner for your business.
Bringing Values to Life: The Acumatica Summit
While our ESG report details our corporate strategy, the Acumatica Summit is where these values come to life. We understand that bringing thousands of Community members together has an environmental cost. Therefore, we have partnered closely with the Seattle Convention Center (SCC) to ensure our event minimizes its carbon footprint and exceeds industry standards for sustainability.
This collaboration is a deliberate choice. The SCC is a pioneer in sustainable facility operations, and their “green” mission aligns perfectly with ours. Together, we are implementing a series of initiatives that cover energy, waste, and resource management.
Partnering with a LEED-Certified Venue
The venue itself is a testament to sustainable design. The SCC’s Summit building boasts a LEED Platinum certification for new construction, the highest level of recognition for sustainable design. The neighboring Arch building holds a LEED Silver certification for operations and maintenance.
These certifications mean that the buildings are inherently efficient. The Summit building features a programmable building management system that optimizes energy use through:
- Smart HVAC: Sensors automatically control window shades to utilize sunlight for heating or block it to reduce cooling loads.
- Daylight Harvesting: Interior lights dim automatically when natural daylight is sufficient.
- Radiant Floors: Water pipes within polished concrete floors circulate water to regulate temperature, reducing the reliance on traditional air conditioning.
Combined with rooftop solar panels that improve energy performance by 30% over the baseline, the venue provides a foundation for an exceptionally energy-efficient event.
Aggressive Waste Minimization
One of the most significant challenges of large-scale events is waste generation. The SCC has established remarkable practices to combat this, achieving a waste diversion rate of 78%, which places them in the top 5% of businesses nationwide.
We are leveraging their advanced infrastructure to reduce the impact of our Summit:
- Water Conservation: The venue utilizes low-flow plumbing fixtures that save 80% of water usage. Additionally, two massive tanks collect rainwater—220,000 gallons for dirty stormwater and 180,000 gallons for harvested clean stormwater—which is filtered and used for landscaping and toilet flushing.
- Eliminating Single-Use Plastics: We have installed water refill stations throughout the event space. At a previous Summit, this initiative prevented an estimated 15,438 single-use plastic bottles from being discarded.
- Composting and Dehydration: The SCC uses food waste dehydrators that reduce waste volume and weight by up to 90%. All food scraps and 100% compostable service ware are processed locally, turning potential landfill waste into nutrient-rich compost for the center’s gardens.
Reducing Transport Emissions
Logistics play a huge role in the carbon footprint of an event. We have re-engineered our practices to minimize the need for shipping heavy materials.
For example, by utilizing existing venue carpeting rather than shipping in custom flooring for the 2024 Summit, we saved approximately 75,540 square feet of carpet from being transported. This seemingly small decision significantly cut down on transport emissions and potential landfill waste.
Furthermore, we recognize that travel to the event is unavoidable. To address this, Acumatica purchases verified carbon credits to offset 100% of the carbon impact from attendee travel. This ensures that while we gather to innovate and collaborate, we are not doing so at the expense of the climate.
