April 22, 2025, marks the 55^th anniversary of Earth Day. Stemming from Senator Gaylord Nelson’s vision in 1970 to make environmental issues a national conversation, the first Earth Day brought 20 million people together to raise awareness about the significant environmental and sustainability challenges facing our planet. Since then, the movement has grown exponentially, now including participants in over 192 countries

According to EARTHDAY.ORG, this year’s theme is Our Power, Our Planet™, which conveys the critical message that individuals have the power to transform our world and to support all of us who inhabit it.

As Acumatica joins in the celebration of Earth Day 2025, we want to reaffirm our year-round commitment to helping every person and every business within our Community succeed while also making a positive impact on our natural environment.

Acumatica’s 365-Day Dedication to Sustainability

We are fully committed to building a strong, supportive Community that strives to create a sustainably focused future. It’s what drives and guides us in our business approach and is the impetus for AcumatiCares and for our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, which encompass our belief in reducing emissions, fostering a culture of responsibility, and building an inclusive and diverse team.

To measure how well we’re reaching our ESG goals, we put together an extensive report outlining the impact our initiatives have made in our local and global Community. Our 2024 ESG Report, which covers the activities, initiatives, and performance of Acumatica includes the recognitions that our efforts have garnered from respected analysts and organizations.

For example, EcoVardis, a global platform that provides sustainability ratings for businesses, awarded Acumatica its Silver Medal in 2022, 2023, and 2024, putting us in the top 15% of industry competitors. Acumatica is also a MeetGreen “Visionary” for our eco-conscious practices during our annual Summit, a Climate Neutral Certified organization, and the recipient of a TrustRadius Tech Cares award for demonstrating a commitment to corporate social responsibility and making a positive impact on people and the planet.

  • Transition customers to cloud ERP that decreases the emissions footprint of older, legacy systems.
  • Prioritize sustainable product design through cloud-based architecture, modular design, efficient resource management, paperless operations, and remote accessibility.
  • Leverage renewable energy resources (e.g., partner with organizations like AWS to reduce our carbon emissions and reduce office energy emissions by procuring office electricity from renewable sources worldwide through Renewable Energy Credits).
  • Minimize in-office and employee commute emissions through hybrid work arrangements
  • Implement waste reduction and recycling programs.
  • Promote sustainability in our supply chain.
  • Provide customer education on sustainability practices and prioritize strong data security and privacy measures.
  • Set near-term, science-based reduction targets through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

In addition to our daily operational ESG strategies, we have established high sustainability standards for our annual Summit, making it a “zero-waste” event. This includes returning almost all Summit furniture, AV, décor, and kiosk materials back to inventory post-event and providing durable, reusable signage and swag items. Over the last few years, we’ve diverted 98.98% of total event waste, donated more than 2,000 meals, bio-composted 5.58 tons of materials (via Terra Firma Organics), recycled 2.48 tons of materials, eliminated more than 12,000 PET bottles, and saved 394,000 L of water.
